Perspectiva profesionales para la especialización en enfermería nefrológica

Abstract

(RD) 450/2005, of 22 April on Nursing Specialities, published on 6 May¹, and some of the key "evils" contained in this RD; and for which I have been expressing my opinion from this tribune, that the professional aspiration of nephrological nursing will not come about through the development of the current Decree on nursing specialities. When the "hospital" speciality par excellence was called Medical-Surgical Nurse Specialist, those responsible for its drafting (Ministry of Education) already clearly showed that they were not going to allow the subject to get out of hand. At the time, they argued that this name was the most comparable to that of other countries. Nothing could be further from the truth, as already mentioned in a previous editorial² ; it was precisely the denomination that was least comparable with the existing specialities in the other European countries, as shown in the White Paper on the Bachelor of Nursing of the ANECA³ , in the chapter analysing the situation of studies in Europe: out of 15 countries analysed, only Portugal has a postgraduate speciality with this denomination. The only thing that it had correspondence with was the subject Medical-Surgical Nursing in the curricula of the Diploma in Nursing, that is, with the generalist competences. Therefore, an attempt was made to create something like the "super-generalist" nurse, and in fact, the National Commission for the aforementioned speciality drew up a training programme, with a very intense itinerary, a tour of numerous hospital specialities, a super-speciality, which obviously went nowhere. Just in case, from the RD 450/2005, the Specific Training Areas disappeared, eliminating the possibility of developing Medical-Surgical in different areas, as if the previous decree of specialties had included them.
