Abstract

There is some difficulty in walking in swampy areas. This situation has certain similarities with the development of the nursing and health professions in this uncertain social environment and in the emotional and social storm that rages in our society. Nephrological Nursing cannot remain oblivious to this and yet it is necessary to find a serene space that allows for reflection and the development of the excellence of care that has taken time, illusion, knowledge and hope to achieve. When healthcare pressure increases, staff cuts, training budgets decrease and scientific advances are ignored, inertia can lead us to look the other way. And look for someone to blame. Or rather, someone to come and fix it. There are other options. I think about looking in the mirror. And ask myself, as the strategist, what I can do. What can I do to avoid settling down in complaint, in resignation, in despair. And as a nurse, I claim our right to get our hopes up, to dare, to persist, to be daring and prudent, to come to work with passion and desire, today and every morning, just because we decide to.
