Abstract
In Spain during 2010 there were 2225, of which 420 were held in Madrid. (www.ont.es) The number of kidney transplants performed at this hospital since its inception in 1980 is 1740. Proper adherence to immunosuppressive treatment is essential in this type of patient, since non-adherence to treatment can be the cause of loss of the kidney graft; it has been proven how important it is to follow this treatment correctly along with healthy lifestyle habits so that the patient's survival is also improved(1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9). Adherence to treatment can be a modifiable cause, where nursing has an important role, intervening actively in the health education of the transplanted patient(1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8), hence, we consider knowing the degree of adherence that our patients with renal transplants have. It is difficult to detect kidney transplant recipients who are not adherent to immunosuppressive treatment, but at the same time it is important to identify them in order to be able to act promptly and consequently, on many occasions, poor compliance with treatment may be suspected, without affirming it until the patient actually recognises it(1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8). Adherence to treatment is due to adequate compliance with immunosuppressive therapy, which includes two concepts: compliance with the dose and form of administration and persistence in the duration of the prescribed treatment (1,2,3,4,5,6,7).
